Prof. Dina Shona Laila (Luleå Tekniska Universitet – Sweden)

Currently, Prof. Dina Shona Laila is the Chair Professor in the Automatic Control subject group, Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, Luleå University of Technology (LTU), Sweden. She joined LTU in 2023, after a rich international academic and research career in several countries including Australia, Austria, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Japan and the UK.

Prof. Dina obtained her bachelor’s degree majoring in Electrical Engineering, from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. She continued her study in a master program in Control Engineering and graduated from the same university. She earned her PhD degree in Nonlinear Control from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Her main research interests are in the area of control and instrumentation. Coming from a theoretical background, her PhD thesis on Design and Analysis for Nonlinear Sampled Data Control Systems has been one of the main references for people working in the area, applied to various classes of nonlinear dynamical systems. Her research has since expanded, not only in control theory, but also addresses various applications for control and systems monitoring, including in automotive, power system network, electromechanical systems and robotics, bridge infrastructure, and agriculture, to mention a few. Her research results have been published in numerous scientific publications with high citations.

Besides research, she also actively involves in teaching and education. She has the experience of teaching various courses related to control engineering and mechatronics for undergraduate and postgraduate levels and for industry. She also has the experience of developing education programs in undergraduate and post graduate levels.
